The NEW LOREMO - what do you think? 2008/11/20 22:57
What do you think about the styling changes made to the LOREMO?

I have to say i think the older version was better looking - more angular less effeminate!

But I would still support the company and likely buy the new one if it were available next year!

Hi there!

This is indeed not an unimportant issue to me.
I know the Loremo project from about 1995 and I am very positive about this project, hoping for it to get released as soon as possible.

I am all confident about the product, as it is yet a 'German made' car what in general means 'good quality' (I say in general and leave whether it was/is to the experts).
The filosophy is -GREAT-, and the company is just great beceause they dare to not follow the (so said) market as all the others do, and still make something that makes perfect sense. This is REAL development, so i BUY.

But here comes indeed this NEW DESIGN

I am having the strong impression, although I don't understand a word german and never really got through any german topic on this site, that LOREMO is fighting its way through the 'reality' in which it hopefully will not drown!

Actually the LS had to be launched a long time ago, but apparently no partner was found, sure with their excuse that market wasn't 'ready' (or in other words not wanting it to compete to much-which is more my impression).

The LS product had a steady styling, reflecting quality and state of the art -Europe- design, with some eastern influences maybe. It reflected vision.

Now for what I understand this far, the styling is going to change for the complete range??? I hope this is a joke??
I hope these are only renders??

I mean not to insult, but this design is rather silly...
Is Loremo trying to sell its products more in the United States than in Europe?? How on earth did they ever think to merge the design of a lousy -I repeat lousy- Corvette with ecology??? Try to explain this.

Is this where Marketing comes in?

I am so sorry.

In 2010-2011 I would really like to buy a real LS Loremo, but is it going to be available with the design of the prototype anno2006-7?

I hope all people of Loremo can accept my apologies for these complaints, you will be able to count on my further support as long as ecology and development are main issues within the company!

Thank you for all work done yet,

an admirer.

Hi zgleib,

I agree with You the former design was a classic design without temporary influences and it was more according to my taste. But better have a sparrow in the hand than a pigeon on the roof. The major facts are still the same “low resistance”
A comment to the german topic. Mostly of it is not really interesting and it is also hard for a outstanding German to understand the content witout reading the most of the posted answers.

Yes Johann,

but nothing seems to be so sure.
The prototype was real, and now we are back to zero.
So much for the sparrow in the hand for me.

Not much info is available about the 'NEW' design (why only pictures are visible on the german gallery?), and if the renders are a bit reliable, accessability for the rear seats will be an issue, if there are going to be any 'rear' seats at all.

What is all this talk about 'Loremo should be inscribed for the -alternative- section at X-prize'? This smells like a 2-seater to me?

The reason for SMART to be out of question is for being a silly 2-seater, it should have been a 3 or at least a 2+1/2 seater (being perfectly possible) in order to conquer real market. (Do not understand me wrong, I -adore- the SMART, defenately the first production series!)

That is why Loremo with its 4 seats is even more competitive!

Another thing: the 2 rear seats heading backwards is nothing to be afraid of. It is not always product following market. Mostly market follows product, otherwise we would never use anything new.

Anyhow, I am looking forward to see anything concrete about the new line, and hopefully challenges will be met and compromises will be made so this beautiful product finds its way to the market, where it belongs.

kind regards,

Zgleib

I think the new rear end looks awful with those double circular rear lights - if you must go circular why not make only single rear lights like the Lancia Stratos or old Ferraris? This would also save weight of additional light units and allow greater access to rear compartment.

The original running Prototype looked fantastic and the mock up shown at the car shows in Germany.

The new one looks too soft at the front as well.

The only thing I would do from an aerodynamic perspective would be to change the side intakes to NACA profiles.

Whilst I think electric will be a good addition to the range, it seems LOREMO has lost it's way by trying to offer too much too soon and then gotten distracted by the presumed US market desire for Electric cars. It should have had a very basic 4 seat diesel model (say 50g/km CO2, maybe 1.7 L/100km) in production by now and followed that with Electric in 2010.

The choice of initial engine was fraught wit issues. But this often happens with new ideas. Just look at the trouble Diamond Aircraft (Austria) have had with Thierlert - now Diamond make their own diesel/JET A1 engines:

The in-production year has now shifted from 2009 to 2010.

It doesn't really matter what the facelifted Loremo looks like, if there are none for sale in the showrooms and none on the streets.

The original Loremo-concept would have caused a storm if it had been available in late 2007 or early 2008.
In 2010, I fear its introduction will cause little more than a rimple on the surface.

Bit by bit, the Loremo concept is slowly being overtaken by developments by "regular" car manufacturers.

VW (Lupo 3L) Audi (A2 3L) already showed what was possible years ago, and more and more cars are getting below 4L/100km (diesel, EU-cycle).

I fear that the Loremo-diesel concept will become vaporware, or that when it finally hits the streets, it simply won't have enough eco-appeal to overcome its "quirky" design features when compared to regular (small) fuel-efficient cars.

Hi, I think the new style is (in general) more better looking in the front, but the rear is ugly. Nevertheless, in the survey that I have made, I saw this new rear:

I think that is less ugly.

the back not only looks ugly, it looks ridiculous.
If they make it only 2 seater, it is a guarantied fail, just look at the original Honda Insight.
